Cadae for Water
Understand water demand. Find avoidable waste.
Cadae helps hotels make sense of water consumption, investigate inefficiency and plan practical improvements. We combine hotel engineering expertise with the wider PHI approach, while developing and validating water-specific benchmarking and resilience methods.
Water readings need hotel context.
Guest numbers, catering, laundry, leisure facilities, irrigation and operating practices all affect demand. A total bill cannot show which use is necessary or where avoidable waste sits.
Understand the demand
Review water quantities and costs alongside the facilities and activity that explain them.
Investigate the pattern
Where readings are detailed enough, look at time-of-day use and compare areas with suitable sub-metering.
Turn findings into action
Agree practical changes, responsibilities and the evidence needed to check the outcome.
What a water review can show.
Consumption and cost
Understand recorded water use in cubic metres and the cost attached to it, with gaps and estimates made clear.
Use in context
Review measures such as litres per guest night alongside catering, laundry and leisure activity. No single intensity measure explains every hotel.
Performance over time
Compare suitable periods and investigate unexpected changes. Area-level comparisons depend on the meters and boundaries available.
The water benchmarking approach compares actual use with a model of efficient demand. Water-specific methods are being developed and validated, with the scope, assumptions and data requirements confirmed for each assessment.
Practical investigation
Look beyond leaks.
The right intervention depends on the hotel. These are areas to investigate, not a claim that every property has the same faults.
Taps and showers
Check excessive flow and the suitability of fittings.
Hot-water losses and long pre-runs
Investigate wasted water and the associated heating demand.
Laundry and kitchens
Review loading, washing and routine water-use practices.
Pools, spas and irrigation
Review schedules and operating patterns against demand.
Leaks and continuous flow
Investigate unexplained use, including overnight. Continuous flow alone is not proof of a leak.
Examples of investigation areas from Cadae's water proposition, not measured customer results. Actions must suit the site, guest experience, service requirements and water hygiene.
One route from water insight to improvement.
Water sits within the wider Cadae approach: Group PHI to assess performance, Hotel Model to understand the property, and Hotel Optimiser to plan and track the work.
01
Assess the opportunity
Review expected water reduction, cost, payback, disruption and the strength of the evidence.
02
Agree and deliver the action
Assign an owner and record completion evidence for the agreed measure.
03
Check the outcome
Compare measured use with a defined baseline, allowing for relevant activity changes. Continue monitoring where data allows.
Suitable measures may range from changing washing or irrigation routines to fitting appropriate taps and shower heads or planning laundry and hot-water upgrades. Savings remain estimates until supported by verification.
Explore the platformDevelopment and validation
Preparing for water stress.
Cadae's water proposition includes proposed methods for understanding essential demand and planning staged service adjustments during restrictions or interruptions.
These resilience views are being developed and validated. They are not presented as a deployed, validated resilience index or a guarantee of continued operation.
Hotels and water-industry partners can discuss an agreed programme to test the methods, evaluate suitable interventions and build evidence.
Getting started
Start with your water records and priorities.
Tell us about your hotel or portfolio, the issue you want to understand and the data already available.
01
Review the starting point
Share recent water bills or meter records, guest activity and relevant facility information.
02
Agree the scope
Identify the sites, data gaps, responsibilities and any need for more detailed readings or investigation.
03
Plan the assessment and follow-through
Agree the baseline, proposed measures and how outcomes will be evaluated before work begins.
The approach can start directly with a hotel or be scoped with relevant water-industry partners. The data route and responsibilities are agreed for each programme.
Questions about Cadae for Water.
Is this just leak detection?
No. The review can consider fittings, hot-water losses, laundry, kitchens, leisure facilities and irrigation, as well as unexplained continuous flow.
Do we need sub-meters?
A starting review can use whole-site bills and activity records. More precise area or time-of-day analysis depends on suitable metering, data frequency and a clear picture of the areas served.
Are water savings or resilience results guaranteed?
No. No validated customer water-saving result is claimed here. Savings depend on the site and the measures delivered; the proposed resilience methods still require development and validation.
Will this replace our water supplier or existing advisers?
The approach can work alongside hotel teams, water companies and existing advisers. Roles, data access and follow-up responsibilities are agreed as part of the scope.
